4K-Karate offers an exceptional after school program at Skinner West Classical School. We train Mondays and Wednesdays from 4:00-5:30 in traditional Shorei Goju Ryu Karate-do.
The afterschool program consist of the following modules: Kihon {Keyhone} (basic fundamentals), Kata {Kaa-Ta}(forms), Kumite {Koo-mi-tay}(sparring) & Kobudo {ko-Boo-doe}(Okinawan weapons) for the more advanced Karate-ka.
The kids train in a very formal setting in traditional Japanese/Okinawan language, culture & customs.
Those that are ready are tested for promotion. Advancement in rank is only realized after successful completion of a rigorous written, oral and practical exam.
Competition is a regular component of our curriculum. From Shiais (intramurals), to formal regional tournaments, competition breeds competence in martial arts training.
Students that show an aptitude for Karate and a great attitude may be invited to try-out for Team Wakamusha our multi-National Championship winning traveling competition team. Twenty-Seven in the last five years and overall Team Champion in 2018.
